BRIGHT AND HALLIDAY TO START FROM GRID 8 AT BATHURST

SHOOTOUT SLIP LEAVES BRIGHT UNFAZED.

Media information: Saturday October 9

Provisional pole slipped to eighth-on-the-grid for tomorrow’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 after today’s Top Ten Shoot Out, but Jason Bright is unfazed.

The Trading Post Racing driver says his car’s been quick all weekend and he is expecting to be fighting for a win in tomorrow’s 161-lap marathon, which starts at 10.30am.

Bright put the drop in pace down to changing track conditions and a slip coming onto Conrod but says he and co-driver Matt Halliday will be right on the pace tomorrow.

Jason Bright
Trading Post Racing:

"I’m not sure what happened; it just didn’t hook-up like it did before and there was no grip. It wasn’t too bad-a-lap; I got the limiter going onto Conrod, which certainly didn’t help the cause, but it was already out of our reach by then.
"Obviously the further up you start on the grid the less chance you have of getting tangled in the first few laps, but if you’ve got the speed it’s not too much of a battle to work your way through; it’s a long day. I’m still happy with the car; we did a couple of full tank runs this morning and it went well so we’ve got a good car for tomorrow.
"There are going to be a lot of different strategies; it’s going to mix up the order a lot and it’s about making sure we time everything right.”
Matt Halliday
Trading Post Racing Co-Driver:

"It’s definitely anxious watching the shoot-out; the guys are on the limit and anything could happen. It’s a fantastic show for the fans but you can win this race from the back of the grid let alone the top ten. I’m sure we will be strong tomorrow.
"I’m very much looking forward to it; it’s the best car I’ve ever had here and we’ve got a realistic shot at winning the race; we’re ready to rock.”
