Friday October 8 Today’s provisional Bathurst pole is the result of incredible progress by Trading Post Racing over the last six months according to Jason Bright. Brighty put in a sensational lap to knock Craig Lowndes off the top spot by just 0.0067s and said it was ‘very satisfying’ for the whole crew to reach such a pinnacle after only a few rounds working on a brand new set-up.

Co-driver Matt Halliday was also on the pace, finishing eighth in his session and giving the team high hopes for Sunday’s race. Before that, Bright will take part in tomorrow’s Top Ten Shoot Out, which starts at 15.45.

Jason Bright Trading Post Racing:
"We’re only a small team so it’s very satisfying to be in this position; it’s better progress than I’ve ever made before in the first year at a new team and we’ve got all the right ingredients to go into next year as a contender.

"We threw the book out at the start of the year and started working on something completely different for BJR. For a team to come from where we were to this in only a few months is pretty satisfying; we’ve worked hard.

"It would mean a lot to be in the same spot on Sunday. When I last won it in 1998 it seemed pretty easy; it was my first serious attempt! I’ve seen the highs and lows this race dishes out since then. I would appreciate it a lot more if I won again.”

Matt Halliday Trading Post Racing Co-Driver:
"I spent some time looking at data overnight and I don’t think the car’s been out of the top ten fastest for any session since then. The car’s as good as any I’ve driven around here and to do a fast lap at Bathurst is an incredible feeling. The commitment you need to have is extremely high and extremely enjoyable and I couldn’t feel more comfortable.”
